Far Infrared Heat Sauna Therapy near Jay Peak
What is Far Infrared Heat Therapy?
Jay Peak residents and visitors are now able to enjoy Far Infrared Sauna Therapy at the Vermont Salt Cave Spa.
The visible range of the sun's light includes the familiar rainbow of colors, but only 44% of the full spectrum of sunlight is in the visible range. Low frequency infrared rays (FIR) make up 52% and transmit more heat than ordinary light whilst providing some of the benefits of sunshine without direct exposure to the sun.
Absorption of the sun's rays helps stimulate the body's metabolism. A lack of sunlight can lead to lower immune function, tension, fatigue, depression and insomnia. FIR light raises the body's temperature. This increases circulation via the dilation of blood vessels, which does not increase blood pressure.
Far infra red heat penetrates past the skin and our insulating fatty layer, 4 - 6 inches into the body. The body responds to FIR therapy mats faster than to traditional heating pads and the effects continue even after use is ended. The benefits of Far Infrared therapy may be enhanced by natural jade or tourmaline that are in the mats.
Research has shown that increased body temperature aids normal body function and improves overall health. Far Infrared sauna therapy is has been found to:

What does our Far Infra-red Sauna Mat Session Involve?
You lie down on our professional Far Infrared Therapy Mat in loose comfortable clothing for 30 minutes. You will be covered by a Mylar blanket and relax listening to gentle, soothing music.
You control the temperature setting which should be at the highest but if you get too uncomfortable with the heat, turn it down. When the alarm rings, please remove the blanket and get up. Please drink water to re-hydrate.

Using our Far Infra-red Mat also provides the added benefit of Pulsed Magnetic Therapy, hot stone therapy, as well as the release of negative ions.

There are 18 layers to this mat which consists of:
-
About 15 lb of top quality amethyst gem - Amethyst is known to give a calming effect.
-
2 lb of tourmaline which has the ability to generate an electric charge & emit negative ions plus far infrared rays.
-
2 lb of natural obsidian - Black obsidian is known as a protective stone that removes negative energy from the area.
-
Essentially, a wire that heats up goes through the mat. That wire is lined with silicon coating that filters bad EMFs from the mat. Additional layers help with heat distribution so the mat heats up evenly all throughout. The bottom layer is a waterproof material, while the top layer is high quality synthetic leather.
Whether you are managing muscle soreness after awesome skiing or riding at Jay Peak Resort, suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, FIR can provide relief. Recent studies published in Clinical Rheumatology found that infrared saunas can reduce pain and stiffness in rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis patients. While infrared saunas are not easily accessible for many people, FIR mats provide the same healing benefits.
High blood pressure is a dangerous condition that can lead to heart attack, stroke, and other serious cardiac problems. However, new studies show that FIR therapy may help to reduce and normalize blood pressure. Researchers in Germany discovered that, after just one hour of FIR therapy, patients experienced significantly decreased blood pressure, improved blood viscosity, and increased cardiac output. These findings suggest that regular FIR exposure may be an essential new treatment for the millions of patients coping with high blood pressure.

A 2005 study on the effects of repeated thermal therapy for two patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome concluded that "these results suggest that repeated thermal therapy might be a promising method for the treatment of CFS."

A team of doctors in Taiwan found that FIR therapy can have a significant effect on nerve regeneration and motor function improvement. Far infrared treatment is non-invasive and effective, and can treat a wide array of peripheral nerve diseases and injuries. These findings can make a meaningful difference for sufferers of nerve pain.

Allergic rhinitis (commonly known as hay fever) is one of the most common chronic illnesses in the world. If you are afflicted with hay fever, you are experiencing inflammation in the nose as a result of allergens in the air. Medication is typically ineffective in treating hay fever, but FIR therapy can provide relief. Researchers at Chung-Yuan Christian University found that, by reducing inflammation, FIR therapy improves irritating symptoms like nasal itching, stuffiness, sneezing, runny nose, and itchy eyesClinical effects of far-infrared therapy in patients with allergic rhinitis.
